Police are investigating an alleged rape that took place at Zinn Park last night.

A 21-year-old woman told Anniston police this morning she was raped Wednesday sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the park in downtown Anniston, a block from the police station, according to a police report.

Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell said the woman told police she was propositioned for sex by someone she knew while visiting the park. After she refused, the man forced himself upon her, Doggrell said.

Doggrell said the woman managed to escape and went to Regional Medical Center, where she alerted police. The report indicated she did not appear to have any injuries.

Police have made no arrests. Doggrell said an investigator will follow up with the woman today to obtain more information about the incident.
