Sean Perez, of Perez Plumbing, didn’t always want to be a plumber like his father and grandfather.

But over time, he gave in.

“I tried to stay away from it,” he said. “But it’s something I’ve got a knack for. It’s something I’m good at.”

Perez enjoys helping people in the area, especially in a field where people often have no idea how to fix the problem themselves.

“It’s the challenge of doing something that not a lot of people can do,” he said. “It’s helping people and the smile on their face when you do it right.”

Perez runs most of the company himself, employing only one other person.

Perez said that, in an area where a lot of plumbers try to run businesses without being insured or certified, his honesty, loyalty and dedication to training sets him apart.

“When I say I’m going to be there, I’m there,” he said. “And I do what I say I’m going to do.”

Perez said that although keeping up with the new technologies in the field can be a challenge, the people he gets to work with make the difference.

“Everybody has got their own story,” he said. “I like to get friendly with my customers, and a lot of them are like family.”
