Weaver city officials have called off Tuesday's Weaver City Council meeting.

Council Member Odis Pippin was injured in a car crash in Anniston Monday, city officials said, and is unable to attend. Pippin is home recovering, but due to his unexpected absence the council will not be able to form the quorum required to meet, said City Clerk Teresa Dishman.

Three of the council’s six voting members must be in attendance to form a quorum and make legally binding decisions. One of the council’s other seats was recently vacated and another council member is out of town.

The council had three items on its agenda.

Council members were to consider an appointment to fill the vacant council seat, appointment of poll workers and the allocation of funds to pay the absentee election manager.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 24.
