Would you like to sample food from a long list of area restaurants without having to drive all over the county? Make plans to attend the third annual “Tastes of Home” benefit for Habitat for Humanity of Calhoun County, July 28 at the Tyler Center (400 E. 10th St., Anniston).This event is held to raise awareness and funds for Habitat’s ministry of providing decent, affordable housing for people in need in our community.
More than a dozen of the county’s finest restaurants and beverage distributors will be offering samples of their specialties. Love pizza? You’re in luck. Barbecue your thing? Ca-ching!
Along with the great food, Bill Wall & Guests will provide live entertainment.
Participating restaurants include Classic on Noble, Covalli’s, Damn Yankees Steak & Oyster Bar, Effina’s Tuscan Grille, Fuji Japanese Cuisine, Garfrerick’s Café, Heroes an American Grille, Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, Peerless Grille, Smoke-N-Hot BBQ, Supreme Beverage, Too Nice to Slice, Tyson’s Fine Wines & Things, The Victoria, White Oak Vineyards and The Wine Cellar.
“Tastes of Home” begins at 6 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.
Planning committee members Ron Hindman, Becky Hollingsworth, Betty Jackson, Jake Mathews, Amanda Parris, James Smyre, Jimmie Thompson III and Phil Webb invite you to spend an evening enjoying fine food and wine, mingling with friends and supporting Habitat’s mission.
The Calhoun County Habitat affiliate was incorporated in 1993. The group started construction on its first house in 1994, which was dedicated March 1995. Since then, Habitat has built 142 new homes through the support of businesses, individuals, churches, foundations and many volunteers.
Tickets to “Tastes of Home” are $40 ($75 per couple) in advance, or $45 per person at the door. For more information, contact the Habitat office at 256-237-3700.
