I’ve known Vaughn Stewart and his family since before starting elementary school at 10th Street and all the way through graduation from Anniston High School in 1973 to now. Vaughn was always a little quiet, polite and a bit reserved. I have learned since then that it’s hard to learn anything when you’re running your mouth.

I know Vaughn to have great integrity, honesty, compassion and, above all, he has a love for this city and its educational system. While Vaughn is a lawyer, he’s the exception to all lawyer jokes. He has been a judge and was elected governor for “Youth Legislature.” He is well-versed in parliamentary procedure and should be able to control City Council meetings.

In today’s economic climate and with Anniston as it is today, it is getting even more difficult to be competitive with surrounding cities when it comes to attracting jobs and manufacturing. The first goals for Anniston have to be taking care of our school system and maintaining a tax base to support the services the city provides its residents.

I know Vaughn will work tirelessly to achieve these goals and is better equipped to succeed than any other candidates I’ve seen running in this election. Vaughn has a plan, has amazing enthusiasm, is energetic and has a positive attitude about reaching these goals. I encourage everyone to give him a chance. Go to the polls and vote for Vaughn Stewart for mayor of the city of Anniston.
