The first time I had the opportunity to ride the Forever Wild Coldwater Mountain bike trail, all I could think was: “Wow, what a masterpiece.” I can’t believe that we have something that incredible right here in our great state.

Forever Wild has given us the ability to leverage properties like Coldwater Mountain all across the state; this trail system is a great example of such leverage. I have traveled to Alaska, the Midwest and all over the Southeastern United States to mountain bike, but the 10 miles of trails at Coldwater — and hopefully 30 to 40 additional miles in the near future — are by far the most fun I’ve had mountain biking in my life.

I wanted to say “thank you” to Forever Wild, local businesses, the International Mountain Bicycling Association, the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association, and the volunteers and partners for supporting this project. I live in Birmingham and have ventured to Anniston at least 10 times since it opened June 1. Each time I go, there are many cars in the parking lot, many are from various counties around Alabama, and about half are from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and even North Carolina.

I know I get gas, drinks and snacks at local businesses each visit and others invest even more with dinner and hotel rooms. This investment will have great return and impact on this region of the state. Thanks for supporting this incredible and unique opportunity for so many people to enjoy.
