I enjoyed reading Star Editor Bob Davis’ column and found it a great guide for selecting the best candidates for Anniston’s mayor and council. Then I realized that Vaughn Stewart addresses, in his vision for Anniston, all of the high impact tasks Davis outlined.
For instance, regarding public safety, Vaughn wants more and better-equipped “boots on the ground” and increased prevention efforts. On the subject of zoning, he wants to create new economic incentive zones. With regard to economic development, Vaughn has numerous ideas including aggressive industry recruitment paired with easier business start-up methods.
On the issue of education, a major player in a city’s health, Vaughn has ideas for producing a better-educated work force, stimulating community involvement, reducing dropout rates and enhancing technology for students. And last but not least, Vaughn has developed strategies for improving the quality of life in Anniston. These include fostering art and cultural development, beautification, historic preservation and enhancement of athletic venues, to name a few.
Vaughn Stewart, candidate for mayor, meets all of the criteria descriptive of what an elected official should be prepared to address. Do yourself and Anniston a favor and elect the best-prepared candidate for mayor. Vote for Vaughn Stewart.
