In February 1991, while I was called to serve as active duty for the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was deployed to Iraq to serve in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, I was faced with a decision as to whom I would entrust the care of my minor son during my absence. As my fellow church member, neighbor and friend, Terry Parker and his wonderful wife Jane were the natural choice. I knew my son would be received immediately as a member of the family and would be with people I respected and admired.
Even before this difficult time, I had the opportunity to know and appreciate Terry and his wife’s Christian values, integrity, compassion and kindness. I have great respect for him as the head of his family, a leader in the church and as a friend.
Terry, I will always be grateful and wish you the best in your desire to serve others in your community of Oxford.
