It’s the dream scenario for joke writers of the late-night TV shows: National politics are divided, dysfunctional and often ineffective, and based on recent events, Republicans would rather vacation in Tehran than compromise with Democrats.
And, as fate would have it, Senate Democrats are pushing for quick repairs for the Capitol dome, which has at least 1,300 cracks in it.
Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer of New York has asked the Senate to budget for the repairs. A Republican spokesman has accused him of “political posturing.”
The Capitol dome isn’t the only thing that needs repair in D.C.
