As one of their philanthropic community services Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) at Jacksonville State University recently partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of North East Alabama. Amy Staples, community liaison for Big Brothers Big Sisters, oriented the members on the program's opportunities. AOII’s Philanthropy Chair, Meagan Boren, of Birmingham, worked with the membership to organize the official partnership and volunteer activities. This partnership will greatly benefit the "Operation Bigs" Mentoring for Military Youth as well as other programs supported by Big Brothers Big Sisters. To kick off a new school year, several members of AOII volunteered to help with BBBS annual “Back to School Party” for 55 children at Sunshine Skate Center in Oxford. Ms. Staples said “I am very impressed with this group of young ladies. They are dependable and so excited about the opportunity to give back to the community through our organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters is honored to be represented by this motivated group of young women and we are looking forward to working with them to continue to make BIG impacts in the lives of children."
