Re “Star’s subscription rates to drop” (News article, Sept. 17):

Having been an Anniston Star subscriber for 35 years or more, I want to try to explain to Consolidated Publishing Co. my feelings about this headline. Please keep the 50-cent reduction and also the non-printing of the Monday newspaper. But please bring back the Friday Escapes section with all the TV programs, movies being shown at our local cinema and special events happening during the week. This is great information for visitors to our city as well as The Star’s subscribers.

The two-page TV guide in the Sunday paper is worthless, it is not legible. It makes you dizzy to try and figure out, even with glasses. Also, the lack of the movie information for our convenience, that once was printed, is not anymore.

Probably a better grade of print would even make the funnies more readable, so we could get a laugh now and then.

Thanks for letting me vent. I hope this gets somebody’s attention and maybe some action.
