First annual “Do it for the Girls” 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk will begin with registration at 7:15 a.m. and race at 8 a.m. today at Jacksonville Community Center. The event is sponsored by Miss Alabama Junior Teen and Jacksonville Medical Center to help spread awareness about breast cancer. Walkers and strollers are also welcome. The 3rd annual CPT Kyle Comfort Foundation 5K Run and Walk will be 8 a.m. Nov. 10 at McClellan Medical Park, 171 Town Center Drive. The cost is $25 for adults and $20 for children 18 and younger. Funds raised help assist injured military service members and their families during the healing and recovery process.
