Buy local: Winter Market features handcrafted gifts from Alabama artists

You don’t have to wait until Black Friday to do your holiday shopping. Just head to the Anniston Museum of Natural History on Friday and Saturday for the annual Winter Market Weekend.

The market, free to browse from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days, features artwork, pottery, jewelry, stone and glass vessels and much more from more than two dozen artisans and craftspeople around Alabama.

“It’s really a neat opportunity to see a lot of different kinds of objects,” said Margie Conner, marketing manager for the museum. “You can get inspiration, holiday gifts and things for yourself that you normally wouldn’t find around here.”

The artists will be on hand to talk about their works, which have “price points that anybody could afford,” Conner said. “From $5 to a couple hundred dollars, there will be something for every budget.”
