• Quilt show, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Leatherwood Baptist Church, 2709 Old Gadsden Highway, all donations go to Steel Magnolias for support and care of local cancer patients.

• Women’s Ministry Christmas bazaar, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., First Baptist Church of Williams, inside CMC building, 5579 Nisbet Lake Road, Jacksonville, proceeds will go to hunger relief in the Pleasant Valley School district, there will be a Santa post office, elves workshop, cookie decorating shop, face paint, grilled burgers, hotdogs and more will be available.

• Boiling Springs Sacred Harp singing convention, 9:30 a.m., Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, County Road No. 5, south of Ashland, bring covered dish, lunch will be served, more singing after the meal.

Nov. 17

• Hollins Opry farewell performance, live country, gospel and bluegrass music, 5-9 p.m., Hollins Community Center, behind Hollins Baptist Church, Graphite Road just off Alabama 511, “pickers and grinners” and the Hollins Community Center board of directors will be honored for seven years of entertainment, donations of $3 for adults will be accepted, if you would like a snack, bring finger foods to share, 256-245-3200.
