The League for Animal Welfare held its third annual charity golf tournament on Oct. 9. The tournament was a resounding success, and the day was perfect.

On behalf of The League for Animal Welfare, I would like to thank all the players for the great turnout and for their overwhelming generosity. We also are thankful to the major hole sponsors, Sunny King, Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, Anniston Oncology and Anniston General Surgery Center. Also, we thank the numerous green and tee sponsors for their support. A special thank you to Cane Creek Golf Course and the pro Ken Szuch for running a great tournament. Also, a special thank you to Rocco and The Sandbagin restaurant for the pre-tournament lunch.

The League has as its mission to find loving homes for the stray cats and dogs of Calhoun County and to help with a low-cost spay-and-neuter program. The League is solely dependent on volunteers and charitable contributions. We are very appreciative to those who have helped The League provide care and shelter for our areas poor strays. As we approach year’s end, and as we all give thanks for our blessings, please remember those less fortunate. Any gift or service is appreciated. You can contribute by contacting The League for Animal Welfare at 256-238-0380.
