Re “Great Veterans Day parade” (Speak Out, Nov. 14):

I agree with letter writer Brenda Sevelius, the Veterans Day parade was great. It had many spectators and participants. It is always wonderful to see our vets salute proudly and stand tall. The grand marshals chosen were a great choice — World War II veteran Frank Turner and Ben Tomlison, a hero from the current conflict.

I do find it confusing that only one band from the area, White Plains, participated. I would think Jacksonville High School and others would want to show off their talents and support the community. I realize it wasn’t a school day but a little sacrifice would seem appropriate.

As always, thanks to Brenda Eddington for having the WAC float all ready and in place for the participants.

Anyone who didn’t attend, please plan on it next year. God Bless.
