Remaining steadfast in our values

The past few days have been filled with speculation about why the Republican Party lost the presidential election. Everything from Republicans need to become more centrist to Gov. Mitt Romney was a weak contender. I disagree.

The principles held by conservatives are right. Instead of conforming to errant popular opinion, we should be steadfast in our values.

Hopefully, our beliefs are not so weak that we would abandon them in defeat. If the abolitionists had this lack of resolve after Harper’s Ferry, slavery might still be in place.

Faith, family values and fiscal responsibility are not ideals on which we should compromise.
