Merriam-Webster, the dictionary company, says “socialism” and “capitalism” were the most looked-up words of 2012. That shouldn’t be a surprise, considering how often those on the far right tried (unsuccessfully) to link President Obama’s policies with those of a socialist autocrat.
The problem isn’t that socialism was heavily researched. It was that so many who should have looked it up didn’t, and it showed.
