A vehicle hit a pedestrian on U.S. 431 around 2 p.m. today, according to Lt. Jon Garlick of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Garlick said a man was walking alongside the road near Supreme Beverage in Alexandria and was struck by the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident and coordinated with local emergency medical service crews, Garlick said. The pedestrian was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment. Garlick was unsure of the severity of the man’s injuries.

Garlick said the incident is being ruled an accident.

“Visibility is down because of the weather,” Garlick said this afternoon. “Nobody is really at fault here.”

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident.

Troopers said this afternoon that they could provide no additional information about the incident.
