Police on Tuesday charged Donald Dewayne Gooden Jr., 25, of Anniston, with robbing a 54-year-old man at knife-point on Oct. 23, Anniston Lt. Fred Forsythe said. Police were called to the scene on the 2200 block of Moore Avenue where the victim reportedly was robbed of $24 between 3:45 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.
“We’ve been trying to locate the suspect since then,” Forsythe said.
Police identified Gooden as the victim of a shooting Saturday on the 1800 block of Moore Avenue. Gooden was shot in the wrist, thigh and abdomen during an ongoing dispute, police said.
While investigating the shooting, police determined Gooden was the suspect involved in the robbery, Forsythe said.
The victim was able to identify Gooden in a photo lineup, and Gooden was charged with first-degree robbery, Forsythe said.
Gooden was in the custody of the Anniston Police Department Tuesday morning, Forsythe said. Bond is set at $50,000 and a court date scheduled for March 18.
