The Crimson Tide won’t visit the White House on Wednesday, the University of Alabama announced today, as a winter storm approaches the capital.

The Tide football team won its second straight national championship Jan. 7 with a 42-14 victory over Notre Dame, earning Alabama another trip to the White House to be honored by President Barack Obama.

But Washington is bracing for snow, with the capital under a winter storm watch. The National Weather Service forecast calls for 3 to 5 inches of accumulating snow in D.C. on Wednesday.

An announcement distributed by the university said the event would be rescheduled.
