Anniston Sgt. Chris Sparks said the victim’s mother reported to police Monday morning that her daughter was abused by a man at her home on the 1600 block of Coleman Road.
The mother told police she was acquainted with the suspect and the incident occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Monday, Sparks said.
According to the sergeant, the child was interviewed by the Calhoun-Cleburne Children’s Center, and the Department of Human Resources is also involved in the investigation.
Sparks said a suspect has been named but police did not find him at his home.
Sparks said the suspect is likely to face felony first-degree sodomy charges.
