Jeremiah Kyle Johnson, 29, of Anniston, was charged with false reporting to law enforcement authorities Monday. According to Sgt. Chris Sparks, Johnson told police his truck was stolen Feb. 28.
Sparks said Johnson reported his 1999 Ford pickup truck was stolen by two men who held him at gunpoint near the intersection of McArthur Drive and Noble Street. Johnson provided a detailed description of the suspects, Sparks said.
Sparks said that when officers searched the area shortly after the report was made, they found the suspects and truck two blocks away. The sergeant said investigators discovered Johnson sold his vehicle to the suspects and a crime did not occur.
Johnson’s bond was set at $500 and a court date scheduled for March 27.
