Shiloh Industries, an Ohio-based metal product manufacturer for the auto industry, will shut down its facility on Electronics Drive in Anniston within the next two months, said Gary Kupec, executive director of human resources at Shiloh’s corporate headquarters in Valley City, Ohio.
"The plant itself will be consolidated with another plant in Jefferson, Ga.," Kupec said.
Kupec said the 66 employees working at the facility will not simply be laid off.
"All the employees have been offered the opportunity to remain employed at the plant in Jefferson, Ga., or at others across the country," Kupec said.
Shiloh purchased the Anniston facility, formerly Atlantic Tool & Die, in December. The facility opened in 2003 solely to manufacture metal brackets for the Honda automotive assembly plant in Lincoln.
Kupec said the facility had been unprofitable since 2009.
"We attempted to improve its financial performance," Kupec said. "But unfortunately, we didn't achieve those financial results."
