Police are investigating a report of copper wire stolen from a local business between Friday and Sunday.

A police report states approximately 75 feet of copper electrical wire was stolen from a business on the 2800 block of U.S. 431. The Anniston Pump Shop, a petroleum equipment remanufacturer, is located at that address.

A representative from the Anniston Pump Shop declined to comment on the theft.

Police charged a man last month with several previously reported thefts at the business. Forsythe said this recent theft is unrelated.

Anniston police Lt. Fred Forsythe said an employee reported the wire missing Monday.

Police are looking into possible leads and have interviewed a witness, Forsythe said.

A suspect is likely to be charged with second-degree theft, according to a police report.
