A 23-year-old man is recovering from injuries after being hit over the head with a wooden chair Tuesday, Anniston police said.

The victim told police he was in his apartment on the 1400 block of Cooper Avenue Tuesday between 2:50 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. when he got into an argument with another man he knew, Sgt. Chris Sparks said.

Sparks said the suspect picked up a wooden chair and struck the victim with it. After the victim fell to the floor, the suspect repeatedly kicked the man and continued to hit him with the chair, the sergeant said.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries, and he is expected to recover from, according to Sparks.

Police are still investigating the incident and a suspect is likely to be charged with second-degree assault, Sparks said.
