It's not a new story, but it's worth repeating: On Oct. 1, 1974, JSU's Student Government Association sponsored a concert at the Cole Auditorium on campus. (Click on the Oct. 1, 1974, link.) The bands were KISS, the headliner, and Rush, the warmup act. For accuracy's sake, remember that JSU hosted all sorts of name rock, pop and country acts during the 1970s and early 1980s. Times were different then.
Thursday night, the three Canadian musicians (Neal Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson) in Rush were finally inducted into the Hall. As a fan, I am pleased.
Nevertheless, it's still interesting that KISS and Rush played on the same night in Jacksonville nearly 40 years ago. The JSU campus paper, The Chanticleer, provides a review. Turn to page 7.
