Severe weather across Alabama has affected the state baseball playoffs for the second time in three weeks, causing postponements for today’s games.

In addition, Jacksonville's Class 4A girls soccer quarterfinal game at Guntersville has postponed. They're now scheduled to play Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Class 4A Cleburne County was the only area baseball team to play Game 3 today, losing 10-0 to Brooks in Killen. The original starting time was 1 p.m., but was pushed back three hours. The two teams split two games in their best-of-three quarterfinal series Friday night.

In 3A, Piedmont (26-9) has re-scheduled its series-deciding game against Mars Hill Bible (29-16) for 1 p.m. Monday. However, coach James Blanchard said the time may change depending on the weather throughout the rest of the weekend.

Class 4A Alexandria, which traveled to Ardmore, will make the trip back to North Alabama on Monday, facing Ardmore at 4 p.m. Game 2 ended after a 30-minute rain delay in the seventh inning Friday night. Alexandria won 3-1, which forced a third game in the best-of-three series.

In Class 2A, Ranburne won the first game against sixth-ranked Westbrook Christian before the second game was suspended in the third inning with Westbrook leading 5-0. They will resume Game 2 on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Also in 2A, Randolph County was the only area team to complete its series Friday. The Tigers swept Sheffield to clinch a spot in the state semifinal.

Randolph County will play either Ranburne and Westbrook Christian next weekend.
