A 25-year-old Anniston woman was charged Monday with cutting her aunt’s forehead with a kitchen knife last week.

Rozshanda Laquetta O’Hara of Anniston was charged with first-degree assault, a felony, according to a police report.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said a 44-year-old woman was assaulted on May 12 at a home on the 5000 block of Wildoak Drive. The woman said she was arguing with her niece while the two were collecting clothes from the residence, George said. The victim bent down to pick up a shirt near the suspect’s foot and was “slashed across the forehead” with a kitchen knife, the captain said.

The victim was taken to Regional Medical Center, George said, and received between eight and 10 stitches.

An investigation led to a warrant filed on Monday for O’Hara’s arrest, George said.

O’Hara was released on a $5,000 bond from the Anniston City Jail on Monday, according to a jail employee. A court appearance is scheduled for July 8.
