If U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., who announced today she will not seek another congressional term, is leaving politics for good, she will leave a void.

Think of the fact-checkers. FactCheck.org has been kept very busy by Bachmann.

Then there's PolitiFact. Of the Bachmann claims checked by PolitiFact 25 percent have been "Pants on Fire," the worst rating on its truth scale. Another 50 percent have been rated either "False" or "Mostly False."

A recent Pants on Fire rating for Bachmann? Try this: "Of every 'three dollars in food stamps for the needy, seven dollars in salaries and pensions (go to) the bureaucrats who are supposed to be taking care of the poor.'" PolitiFact found administrative costs "top at 5 percent of program costs, far below the 70 percent Bachmann claims."
