Anniston police today were searching for a suspect who reportedly burglarized a home while carrying a gun.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said a 24-year-old woman living on the 1100 block of Elmwood Drive found the father of her child breaking into her home around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Sparks said that once the man entered the home he began to fight with a male friend of the woman.

The sergeant said the father fled out the window and left the scene on foot, abandoning his vehicle.

Sparks said this afternoon that officers are investigating the incident.

According to the police report, the suspect could face charges of first-degree burglary, a felony.
