It doesn't matter what the topic -- politics, history, sports, movies, you name it -- there's no way a human should have such an encyclopedic knowledge of anything. For Schwab, it was sports. And that knowledge is what made Schwab a hero to sports nerds, a label I proudly wear. His knowledge was so vast that ESPN produced a show, "Stump the Schwab," that serves as proof of The Schwab's greatness.
It's sad that ESPN, in its latest round of layoffs, let Schwab go on Wednesday. The safe assumption is that a competitor -- Fox, you'd expect -- will hire The Schwab before week's end.
