PARD announces 4th of July activities

The parks and recreation department announces the following activities.

• Bark in the Park will be at 6 p.m. on June 27 at the Frog Town Soccer Complex. The event will include fun contests for the four-legged friends. Entry fee is one can or bag of dog food, which will be donated to the animal shelter.

• Fun Day at the city pool will be from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. June 28. Entry fee is $1. There will games, contests, prizes, splasher and a wiggle bridge.

• Toddler Challenge will be at 6 p.m. July 1. The Olympic style games are designed specifically for children from 2-5 years old. Entry fee is $2 per child. There is no admission for parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends.

•Jax-Fest and Fireworks Celebration, “Celebrating God and Country,” will be at the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagle Stadium July 3. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available. Music and games will begin at 6 p.m. The Community Choir and Community Band performance will begin at 8 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 a.m. Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket to spread in the stadium for the best view of the fireworks.
