Anniston police Monday were investigating an assault in which a woman reported being strangled by her husband Sunday night.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, the victim and her husband got into an argument in their home on the 2600 block of McCoy Avenue. George said he did not know what the fight was about.

According to George the husband grabbed the victim by the face and shoved her against the wall in their bedroom. The victim said when she tried to get away, the husband choked her and threw her on the bed, the captain said.

According to George the woman called the police from her cell phone. The husband was not in the house when the police arrived, George said.

George said he did not know if the woman had any injuries or if she was treated Monday morning.

The victim, said George, intends to press charges against her husband who will face felony charges of domestic violence — strangulation, according to a police report.
