Donald Dewayne Gooden Jr., 26, of Anniston, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, a felony.
Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said officers were called Sunday afternoon to help Weaver police during a vehicle pursuit. Sparks said the pursuit began when Gooden crashed his car near 64th Street and Gallatin Drive. Sparks said that after the wreck, Gooden flagged down the 31-year-old woman and got into the backseat of her car. Sparks said the victim did not know Gooden.
Gooden yelled at the woman to drive, Sparks said, and directed her to stop near the Weaver High School.
The woman complied, Sparks said, and called police when Gooden exited her car.
Sparks said Anniston and Weaver police found the suspect outside at 917 Clairmont Dr. in Weaver. Gooden was apprehended at the scene.
Sparks said details of what happened when Gooden got into the car were still under investigation today. No injuries were reported, the sergeant said.
Gooden was still in the Anniston City Jail this afternoon. Bond and a court date have yet to be set.
