Anniston residents filed 19 police reports stating their cars were broken into between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said today that several suspects breaking into cars have frustrated police lately.

Sparks said all the vehicle owners reported their cars were unlocked during the thefts.

Two cars were broken into on Coleman Drive, six on Nocoseka Trail, two on Sprague Avenue and three on Cambridge Place, according to police reports.

Items taken from the cars ranged from small amounts of cash, a purse, a tablet computer and a GPS, the reports noted.

Sparks said he doesn’t believe all the cases are related.

The sergeant said police have invested many hours into these specific cases and charges are expected to be filed soon.

Any suspects could face charges of breaking and entering a vehicle, a felony.
