A grand jury this month indicted two Hobson City men on attempted murder charges in relation to a shooting in May.

Brandon Omar Williams, 26, and Terrell Montez Batchelor Sr., 26, were indicted Aug. 16 on charges of attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building, according to court documents which became available today.

On May 20, deputies responded to a shooting at 12:15 a.m. on the 300 block of Wilkerson Drive in Hobson City.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Batchelor knocked on the door of the residence while Williams hid. A man opened the door and Williams shot him in the eye.

Officials said a cell phone belonging to Batchelor was recovered at the crime scene and led investigators to the suspects.

The indictment for attempted murder states that Williams attempted to intentionally cause the death of Kendrell Damon Williams by shooting him with a firearm. Batchelor’s indictment states that he aided Brandon Williams in the shooting. A second indictment for discharging a firearm into an occupied building states that Williams fired a gun into a building occupied by Dan Thomas on the 300 block of Wilkerson Drive. Batchelor again aided Williams in the shooting, online court records show.

Williams’ cash bond is set at $50,000. Batchelor’s bond is set at $40,000.

Batchelor and Williams were in the Calhoun County Jail today, jail records show.

Both are scheduled for arraignment Oct. 17, in which the indictments will be read and they will plead guilty or not guilty.
