Calhoun County deputies today were investigating the reported rape of a 9-year-old Ohatchee girl.

Chief Deputy Matthew Wade said the victim’s father told the Sheriff’s Office Monday that his daughter was raped by the girl’s stepfather. The abuse occurred between Aug. 2 and Aug. 25, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. Wade described the abuse as ongoing.

Wade said the Department of Human Resources and the Calhoun-Cleburne Children’s Center are involved in the investigation.

No arrests had been made today, he said.

Any suspect is likely to be charged with first-degree rape, a felony.
