A museum is located near his birthplace. It is filled with photos, videos and other memorabilia from his sports days and his later years as a humanitarian. A bronze sculpture of Owens is located in the park on the museum grounds. The sculpture was created by sculptor Branko Medenica; it measures 14 feet tall and 10 feet wide and weighs one ton.
The museum is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday 1:30-5 p.m. The park is always open. For more information call 256-974-3636 or visit www.jesseowensmuseum.org.
