At least one driver involved in a four-truck wreck on Interstate 20 in Cleburne County on Monday was in critical condition this morning at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Robyn Litchfield, a spokeswoman with the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said three other drivers and two passengers also were injured in the accident and taken to local hospitals. Litchfield was unable to provide information on the condition of those drivers and passengers this morning.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the department will release a report in three or four days, Litchfield said.

Four commercial trucks were involved in the wreck that occurred just after 4 a.m. Monday and closed eastbound traffic lanes on I-20 until 11 p.m.

Traffic was redirected through Heflin for most of the day Monday, leading to at least two traffic accidents there, according to police.
