We had a beautiful fall day to be in God’s House! Trunk or Treat will be October 31 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. You get to judge our Trunk Decorating Contest. We had a wonderful crowd at Fall Festival Saturday!

Pastor Donald’s message came from Daniel 1:1-8, “The Pressure to Compromise”. Isolation: Daniel and his friends were isolated from all positive influences that had been molding their lives and character into ways of godliness. Our culture is hostile to the things of God. There is a constant effort to isolate people from anything that is Christian. Ex: no pray in school, nothing overately Christian to be displayed on your desk or in office, chaplains in the military are pressured not to pray in Jesus’ name! Satan is using these ploys to isolate Christians. Indoctrination: The Hebrew boys were being taught to act, dress and think with a here and now worldview. Their names were changed from ones that honored the One True God to names that honored Babylonian gods. With intensive training and new names it would be easy for them to begin to think of themselves as citizens of Babylon rather than citizens of Jerusalem!

Seduction: King Nebuchadnezzar ordered Daniel and his friends to eat a daily provision of his food and wine so that after three years they would serve the king. This was to further lead them astray and into doing wrong in God’s eyes. For us today it is the temptation to go for the good life, to focus on ourselves and a life of enjoyment! For what are you selling your soul?

Verses 8 and 12 gives us the response of Daniel, as well as Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach) and Azariah (Abednego). They resolved not to compromise! They would not defile themselves as Jews by eating from the king’s table regardless of the cost!
