Celebrate 5 years of eating local at Garfrerick’s

Garfrerick’s Café celebrates its five-year anniversary with Feast 5, a banquet of roast pig with a spread of more than 10 different sides, including many of the Oxford eatery’s signature dishes, Monday from 4:30-9 p.m.

Owner and chef Dave Garfrerick will team up with chef Rob McDaniel of Spring House Restaurant in Alexander City to prepare a selection of locally-grown produce. Guests will also enjoy live music and will get to know the people that have become renowned for using locally sourced ingredients as well as reviving hometown recipes including the historic Purefoy Hotel’s recipe for “Good Brunswick Stew,” which will be on the menu.

The Year of Alabama Food is wrapping up 2013 with a photo contest featuring the best of the best in Alabama eating.
