How can something considered no longer valid be phased out instead of just cutting it out completely? Why the transition?
According to Superintendent Tommy Bice, the exam will no longer be required. If students pass their course work, they will graduate from high school. Oh my goodness. How many students suffered under this beast of an exam?
In all my years as an educator, I had problems with this entire exam issue. It has always been unjustly enforced on students who benefited nothing from it. The end of the exam only applies to new seniors or the students who were ninth-graders in 2010-2011. But, seeking sanity in an insane world is an inane expectation.
Our educational system loves to create new unproven methods to experiment on our students for 3 years to 5 years, many times only to scrub the idea as not benefitting enough of the population. Amazing, our vocational program wasn’t transitioned out. It was dropped. Do the same for that exam. Just drop it.
