According to Chief Deputy Matthew Wade, the suspect, Anthony Lavaughn Crook, 36, who is in the jail awaiting trial on felony charges of third-degree burglary and obstruction of justice, thought that the victim had stolen some of his laundry.
While the victim, 32, was lying on his bed in his cell around 10:05 a.m., Crook came into the cell and stabbed him repeatedly with an ink pen, Wade said.
According to Wade, corrections officers broke up the incident and the victim was treated for minor injuries at the jail.
Wade said the victim plans to press charges against Crook, who may be charged with felony second-degree assault, according to a police report.
