Athletic and effective Sacred Heart proved too much for Faith Christian on Friday night, scoring a 77-50 win to advance to the Class 1A, Area 12 championship game.

Sacred Heart will get a chance at a bit of revenge in the finals. The Cardinals, who are hosting the tournament, will face Ragland for the crown Monday night. Ragland is the team that knocked off Sacred Heart in last year's Area 12 title game.

Sacred Heart took control of this one early, opening the game with a 10-0 run, before Faith Christian made its first basket. In response, the Cardinals closed out the first quarter on an 11-0 run, and led 21-2 heading into the second period.

They went on to add 29 and 20 in the second and third quarters respectively, and had a commanding 70-34 lead with a quarter left to play.

“It’s a good thing when you play the way you’re supposed to, but you have to dominate the game in all aspects,” Sacred Heart head coach Ralpheal Graves said. “We still have to improve on the little things.”

Sacred Heart's Kevion Nolan led all scorers with 16 points. Quen Williams added a double-double — 15 points and 14 rebounds — and D.J. Heath chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Diante Wood finished with 12 points.

With a sizeable lead during the game, Sacred Heart saw 13 different players on the court during the game, which is something Graves said “was good.”

“We got a lot of players in today to get experience, so we’ll have more depth on down the road," he said. "That’s probably the best thing we can take from this game, and move on.”

For Faith Christian, which saw its season end with the loss, Logan Williams finished with 11 points. Josiah McDaniel and London Huie both added nine points and seven rebounds each.

Ragland 69, Donoho 43: Donoho could not overcome a dominating second quarter by the Ragland Purple Devils, and ultimately saw their season end with the 26-point loss.

Ragland took a slim 12-10 lead into the second quarter, before exploding for 29 points in the quarter, while holding Donoho to 13.

The distribution of the offense, by four of the starting five for the Purple Devils, provided to be too much for the Falcons. Jaylen Brewster finished with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Christian Morrow added 10 points and six rebounds. Jacob Brewster chipped in with nine points. Shawn Wright scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds. Levi Campbell came off the bench to score 11 points.

Donoho's Kevin Carr did all he could to prolong the Falcons' season. The sophomore guard came off the bench to finish with a game-high 19 points. Justin Foster chipped in with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Chris Carr added eight points and nine rebounds.
