Friends of Janney Furnace, the Calhoun County commissioners, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and other volunteers afforded our students a wonderful opportunity to further their knowledge of Calhoun County's role in the war.
Being able to have both visual and hands-on experience brought the history to life with replicas and clothing of that period. The children really enjoyed the interaction with the reenactors. The program was well organized and accommodating to all children, no matter what their need. This is an area resource that all families can enjoy.
We would like to thank everyone for the hospitality and for making a personal and meaningful lesson in history our students will remember. We look forward to attending in the future.
