Anniston police were looking Tuesday for a man who broke into a woman's house and tried to rape her Friday night.

The woman was at her home on the 1300 block of Kilby Terrace when she heard a window break around 11:45 p.m., police said.

She thought her dog broke the window, until another window broke on the other side of the house, police said.

She heard a male voice outside her bedroom door, ordering her to face away from the door and not look at him, investigators said.

The robber came into the bedroom, turned off the light and asked her where she kept her money, police said.

Officers said she told the robber she kept it in her purse in the living room.

He tried to rape her, but she fought him off, suffering a blow to the head, police said.

Investigators said the robber left, taking her purse. The woman went to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

When officers arrived, they found he attacked her car before breaking in, shattering the window and damaging the instrument panel.
