"We are running in a certain direction," Riverside Police Chief Rick Oliver said Monday. "We're progressing with the investigation."
Oliver would not comment any further about the disappearance of Kelley Henderson Howard, 41.
Howard was reported missing by her husband, Boyd Howard, and was last seen two weeks ago on June 2.
Saturday morning, family and friends searched a wooded area behind the Family Dentistry in Riverside, where the woman was last seen.
Howard worked as a dental hygienist at Family Dentistry for the past six years and moved to Pell City about a year ago.
Howard is originally from the Anniston/Oxford area and much of her family still lives in the area. She graduated from Wellborn High School.
Family members said at a press conference a week ago that the last time anyone in the family heard from Howard was June 2.
Larry Henderson, Howard's father, said at a press conference last week his daughter talked to her mother on June 2, but family members, including her husband and son, have not heard from her since.
"We're a real close family, we always have been," Henderson said. "She always talks to family members every day."
Family and friends gathered on June 11 at Wellborn Park for prayer and to release balloons bearing messages of hope and love in Howard's honor.
Anyone with information about Howard or her disappearance should contact the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department at 205-884-3333.
