Salvation Army Maj. Debbie Kingsbury said Stuff The Bus donating starts today at locations throughout Quintard Mall and will last through July 24, when the Salvation Army plans to fill a school bus donated by Anniston Transit with all the supplies collected.
Kingsbury said the event is specifically aimed at helping at-risk youth in various city and county schools afford school supplies.
“It’s one neighbor in Calhoun County helping another neighbor,” she said.
Kingsbury said wide-ruled paper, pencils, composition books, crayons and glue are examples of much-needed items people are encouraged to donate.
The supplies will be sorted out by volunteers from the Honda plant in Lincoln on July 25 and will then be distributed around the county, she said.
Kingsbury said the Salvation Army also will take monetary donations for helping atrisk youth afford school supplies. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 218, Anniston, AL 36202.
