HOOVER — The magic of the movies is not lost on Nick Saban.

The Alabama coach recently broke out his old coaching duds from his time at LSU to film a cameo scene in the movie "The Blind Side." The coach played himself in the adaptation of the Michael Lewis book about former Ole Miss player Michael Oher who was recruited by Saban when he was the coach at LSU.

The coach-turned-movie star was able to teach a quick lesson on cinematography when addressing reporters Thursday at SEC Media Days.

"When I come to the door to do the recruiting spiel, there's seven of us in the picture," Saban said. "You have to do seven takes because there has to be a wide angle, then there has to be a close-up on each person."

The coach got a laugh when he said the team already voted against watching the movie, but he also said he hopes Tide fans don't take his purple and gold wardrobe the wrong way.

"I'm hopeful all of our fans will understand that the movie is an historical event," Saban said. "I have not heard one negative comment about that particular situation because it's not reflective of where I am now."
